The way of love gives embodied life its fuller purpose; without it, the verse says hyperbolically, a body is only bone wrapped in skin. No person should be dehumanised by the image.

“Bodies of loveless men are bony framework clad with skin; Then is the body seat of life, when love resides within.”
“The seat of life is in Love: who hath it not is only a mass of skin-encased bone.”

A body in which life truly dwells is one that lives by the way of love. For those without love, the body is no more than bone wrapped over with skin — alive in form but not in the way a living soul should be. Love is what makes a body the true seat of life.
